Atlas shrugged book review

Altogether this is a strange, overwrought book. A lot of authors do that.

Atlas Shrugged is absurd but strangely compelling

Socialists are frightening creatures who lurk in corners, waiting to pounce on you. Her characters are of billboard size; her situations incredible and illogical; her story is feverishly imaginative.

Ayn Rand's 'Atlas Shrugged': What the critics had to say in 1957

Having also read a biography about Ayn Rand it is clear that there is a semi autobiographical aspect to that parts of these novels. Ruddy approached Rand to produce a cinematic adaptation. This is a socialist: Rand is an unabashed admirer of the wealthy industrialist and it is for him that she bats her eyes and licks her lips, not for me.

When one guy, company, whatever, fucks over another, not only is that short sighted pettiness, it is also usually accomplished through cronyism and corruption.

Greed to do better. Skip it if you are hating the book or better yet, stop reading it. You still feel with your heart, but you think with your mind.

In a speech, Ryan cited Ayn Rand as a key reason he went into politics. Chambers is an ex-Communist. But she also rejected the notion that characters should be symbolic rather than realistic. Subsequently, on April 2,Atlas Shrugged ranked 1 in the "Fiction and Literature" category at Amazon and 15 in overall sales.

But keep in mind that some people really are mentally ill about owning everything. The book revolves around the larger issues of private enterprise and entrepreneurship and socialism and government control. And they are super easy to spot, too—just look for the hummingbirds who sew their clothes for them.

Such laughs, however, come bitterly, given how seriously so many take this stuff. She does this, not by the length of her six hundred thousand word diatribe, but rather by the frequency with which she causes me to roll them.
